the men of the mountain

the men of the mountain tells the two stories each of how guilt can affect humans. The first is of two races of men who have had a violent past but are now living in a monastery with an uneasy truce. The second is of a former professional fighter named Serey who accidentally killed his friend in a deliberately exhausting completion and had fled burma and shrouded himself in the monastery teaching the monks Lethwei.

Chapter 2.

Leopoldo

At this moment Leopoldo closed the book away into the dusty library. It was a hall of collective knowledge that few read and that reeked and echoed of long forgotten past. He thought to himself “800 years later surely these men would simply put down their ancient despicable resentment towards each other.” At this peculiar moment an apparition of a sleazy man strolled through and starred at the frowning face of Leopoldo.

He took the form of a swarthy skinned man wrapped in a shapeless robe darker than the night. His sleepy eyes simmered slightly and he spoke “the library ain’t a scary place brother.” Leopoldo looked startled “just something on my mind brother just something on my mind.” The swarthy man sighed in hopelessness he was never used to his mosin brother in being such state. Leopold  in a deciding manner plodded into the library with the book clutching to his chest all the while with his heavy head down. A voice spoke “you going to return that brother?”

Leopoldo turned to the sight of the Liberian’s assistant Mirko a fellow mosin. Leopoldo stammerd “uhhh yes um sorry did I take out for too long?” Mirko stood from his desk “you look hungry”.  Leopoldo shook his head “no I’m quite well thank you brother but Jesus back there said that the library isn’t a scary place, I fear to all of the heavens, hells and earths that he is dreadfully wrong.” Mirko sat down a very causal way took a cigarette out of his mouth and exhaled an air of foul smell that filled the library. Mirko’s dark face changed from a calm casual expression to an agitated look “you still here or you looking for Serey?” Leopoldo grinned “yes is he still teaching?”
