Btw I got off work early because they send the hard working guards at home (you work your ass off you get rewarded). I've worked there for 3 years and worked my ass off. I've done cleaner jobs since I've started (I wasn't pulled until after I became a 2nd year, once as a 1st year). I try my damndest to do shit and I've been doing closing duties a lot even when I'm not closed. I don't leave the park until everything is good.
They appreciate that. I also scan my water and make See More sure everyone is safe, I haven't had 1 save this year because
1) I yell at kids to put lifejackets on before they get in the water
2) I watch my water and make sure the older kids aren't messing around and knocking little kids down making it so they drown. (I've kicked 10 kids out of the park because of that, yelled at them once and they did it again and sent a toddler into the water and I was furious at them. Another time this kid was playing on this crab thing you can climb on and kids were rocking it and the kid was screaming them to stop. I told them to get out and before they got out they shoved the little kid off the crab, pissed me off.) Respect the fact that children can't swim and be cautious around them.
3) I scan more than just my water in under 10 seconds, I scan my area and the guard next to me. I make sure no one drowns.
4) With our training doll (and live vats) I get it in 3 seconds (I've also had 2). I've only failed twice and that was my first year as a lifeguard and I didn't know what the training doll was. Haven't failed since.
5) I work through being sick and injuries, if my foot hurts I walk through it, if I'm sick I power through it and work. I had an asthma attack at work and I had to leave and get my lungs situated Came back 30 minutes later ready for another round.
I take my job seriously, I'm a lifeguard I have to. I'm also a bitch when it comes to correcting people (I'm actually nice, I love answering questions. I just look unapproachable, and mean). If I see someone not doing their 5 minutes I tell them, not scanning your water I'm telling you and I'm calling you out on it too if you don't listen the first time (I am mean, you're a lifeguard protect the people in your water ffs watch it), I tell you when you're not doing something right (I say it nicely first and if you don't listen well good luck). I am literally called a bitch at my work because I'm that serious about my job. Being a lifeguard you have to be because your guests safety is priority (as well as your own of course). If you're not watching your water and enforcing the rules something bad will happen.

In my years of working at the pool I've had 32 saves, kicked roughly 10 out of the park (with help of the manager of course, I physically can't do it myself), kicked 20 people out of certain areas of the pool.
I take pride in how hard I work at my job, and I've been told I was one of the best lifeguards they had there so ?? loving this.
