You're born in a cage. Hundreds of other people sit in cages, too. Most of them have no teeth, and you soon learn why when one of your "caretakers" rips your teeth out, and then uses burning hot metal to stop the bleeding - all of this without anesthesia.
All of your fellow prisoners are cramped together, forced to sit on their own feces and urine. Chemicals in the air such as ammonia burn your eyes. Your lungs soon ache from coughing all day, every day, due to See More the bronchitis you've developed - and that isn't the only sickness. Inhaling those bacterias from your excrement gives you other chronic respiratory diseases.
But you're not being starved - in fact, far from it. You watch as your "caretakers" inject your food with a load of antibiotics - to keep you alive in these terrible conditions - and hormones and drugs, too. Most of the other prisoners are morbidly obese, no longer able to stand up. Some of them die from heart attacks or collapsed lungs right before your eyes. The prisoners who are still able to move constantly throw themselves against the walls of their cages, or else they desperately crawl under their cage-mates in an attempt at finding shelter or protection.
Female prisoners, however, ARE starved. The "caretakers" reduce their diet and body fat, causing the person to become scrawny, and then they are returned to their original diet. You quickly learn that this is a method the "caretakers" use to increase the production of the females' eggs, which the "caretakers" then harvest. After this cycle happens a few times, the females are brutally slaughtered.
And when a male is deemed plump enough, it, too, is murdered. Its carcass is skinned, frozen, and shipped off to who-knows-where. All of these innocent lives are taken when the person is still conscious.

Okay, now imagine the situation above happening with CHICKENS instead of humans. I bet a lot of you out there will think, "Oh. That's OK then. They're just chickens."
Well, that is just SICK.
Did you know that in factory farms, chicks have their beaks sliced off with a hot blade, without anesthesia, to "decrease aggressive tendencies?" That in factory farms, chickens are fed FOUR TIMES the amount of drugs consumed by humans and cattle in the US alone? That factory farmers often force females to molt, decrease their diet/body fat by 30%, and then restore the original diet, JUST to increase egg production?
Take a stand against factory farms, and stop buying their food.
NOTE: I'm against eating meat even if the chickens were HUMANELY raised, but at least it's better than factory farming.

Okay, I feel like this song doesn't get enough appreciation. It started out as a poem written by Tennyson, but then Loreena McKennitt turned it into a song. It is just beautiful - the tune, the instruments, the words, everything. Yes, it is old-fashioned, but Loreena's voice is amazing. I wholeheartedly recommend that you watch this video. Yes, it is 11 minutes long, but you will get caught up in the story. Five stars.

If you're wondering what it's like in my house, here are some things to give you an idea:
-My mom yelled at me the other day for saying "freaking."
-My parents are soooo proud of my sister's team for getting first place in a contest they won by default.
-It takes my mom at least 15 seconds to even respond to anything I ask/say.
-Whenever my sister gets grounded, she "forgets" about it and gets on tech, and when my parents find out, they get mad at her but don't punish her any See More more.

Update on mice:
All of them have died. I'm devastated, and feel as if I have failed them. My parents tell me that I've "done a great thing for these mice" and "made their deaths comfortable." They also say that they will pay me back for the formula.
When the mice died, none of them had opened their eyes yet. They died without even seeing anything. They were eleven days old. R.I.P. Maggie, Layla, Milky Way, Hope, and Twilight. <3 <3

Bill lived in a house less than a mile away from a veterinary clinic that specialized in treating exotic animals for free. One day, Bill came out of his house to see that his jaguar had been attacked. A puddle was seeping out from under it, and it had been slashed and beaten. It was not dead, nor would it die if it were moved. He loved animals with all his heart and would do anything for them, but Bill wouldn't and couldn't take it to the clinic. Why?

Jennifer came into the police station claiming that while she was at home, a man had broken in and held her at gunpoint. "I remember he had on black boots, sunglasses, and loose jeans," she said, still sobbing from the experience. "I'm sorry; I'm just so shaken up!"
The police called in suspects for a lineup to see if Jennifer could identify the man she claimed had assaulted her. Jennifer immediately pointed one out.
"That's him!" she exclaimed. "I'd recognize those piercing See More blue eyes anywhere!"
The on-duty police officer, Jack, was unsure whether or not to be suspicious. Should he arrest the man? If so, why? Should he call both Jennifer and the man in for further questioning? If so, why? Should he release all the suspects? If so, why?

Layla the mouse and Milky Way the mouse have both died, and I'm pretty sure Hope has, too (although I'm leaving her in for a little bit just to see; sometimes they can be so sluggish that they hardly respond at all.) Twilight is the last living mouse, and my mom says that since all of her siblings died in quick succession, she probably will, too.
