How do I set Google as my default search engine?

Question

I know that I have to make a new tab and then click the magnifying glass in the upper right corner, and then select Google. But Google is already selected! Whenever I make a new tab, it goes directly to Yahoo. Why doesn't it go to the "Popular Sites" thing or whatever? It used to go to an all gray background with a bunch of miniature screens on it. The screens were tabs that I go on often. But now it just goes to Yahoo. Please help!

Note: I just discovered that it won't let me set it to anything other than Yahoo! No matter what I select, it always changes it to Yahoo! I HATE YAHOO.COM!

I have the same problem: it set the main page for Ask.com for me!

I hate any site where normal people can just answer questions XD I hate Yahoo, too! Why couldn't it have set the default thing to Bing or something??
