Chapter 6.
Breeze

Breeze

We stayed there for

a good long while. Artin and Gwenn got married while Cardrew found a lovely girl who was as eager for knowledge as he was. Iris got a handle on her powers because she started to make some good friends. Gwenn's wedding was perfect and I had never seen anyone so happy. Iris had done her hair in cascading waves with a daisy crown on her head. The dress I had stitched because a women in the town had taught me how. I had made a long dress with a drop waist. It had beads that looked like dew drops and hand stitched flowers  that took forever to do. Cardrew had made the alter with Artin that was twigs bound in an arch. They said their vows with tears in their eyes making everyone cry. Iris was so happy that a ray on sunshine came out to shine on them. Artin joined the hunters after the wedding and this place was beginning to feel like home much to my delight. We were hidden from the kings eye and were happy with our lives. A few months after the wedding a messenger came
into the village warning us of kings men. Women ran to shelters with the children while the men armed themselves. The town was preparing for him and so was I. When I saddled up my horse Aidan came up behind me and so I turned to speak to him. He rushed forward pushing me against a tree and kissed me hard as I tried to grasp for reality. I lost myself to his kiss that then turned hopeful and adoring so I kissed him back.
"Don't go," he heaved out of breath and I smiled sheepishly but with certainty  I pecked him lightly.
"Never," I whispered but after I began to kiss him again but was swept up on a horse. I let out a shrill scream and called Aidan's name he tried to come after me but was knocked on the head. I screamed out again before the man turned his horse on away from the village and my home. The man's face was covered as was his men. I faced forward in silence and let a single tear role down my cheek because I knew I was alone.
