Chapter 1
I wake up because my new alarm clock goes off. It's been a week since I've arrived at the human world. I find myself on the floor... my face on the floor..."Itaiiiiiiii!" I yell in pain.
I roll back and forth on the ground, covering my face with my hands. I still hate these stupid legs. I get off the floor and put on my new school uniform. I run down the stairs of our hotel. That's right, hotel. I pop in the kitchen, grab bread, go to get my schoolbag and leave. I look at my watch, I still have an hour and a half. I head to the beach that's nearby. I smile bright when I sea the beautiful waves of the blue water. I run to the water, but stop. Another few step, I would've turned back into a mermaid. I look up and see a surfer. He looks around my age. He pulls out of the water. My eyes widen. It's him, it's the boy from 5 years ago. He looks... cute... NO! NO NO NO! Mermaids can't love a human! Ugh! I must've been staring, because he walk up to me. And pinches my nose.
"You tryin' ta pick me up?" He asks.
"No. No, I'm not! No!" I freak.
"Whatever shortie."
"Hi, there! My name is Kaoru. Who're you?" The girl asks happily.
"N-nina...." I reply.
"I love your name!It's so cute!"
I smile, I just made my first human friend... I think. I go to the school announcement board to see which class I'm enrolled in. But, I'm shorter than most of the girls and boys.
"Hey, you're the girl from the beach." Says a familiar voice.
"Ah... um, h-hi..." I respond.
"What's wrong, can't ya see the class enrollment pages?"
"What do you think, ya big meanie!?"
He walks over putting a hand on my head. The nerve to... my face burns with anger. I smack his hand from my head. That jerk. The worst part is, Ihave the same class as him. Even worse, we're sitting next to one another. WHY ME!?
