How TF do you get a camera to turn on?

Personally have a fujifilm XP 120. The battery is in right, and l've left it charging for 4 hours... 4 FREAKING HOURS! The little noise and light comes on ONLY when l have it connected to a charger, but the screen stays black NO MATTER WHAT. l'm getting over nothing so l would appreciate help PLEASE l need to recover pictures of my dog that passed, and obviously l cant go to best buy or something to help me. l have the exact one in the picture. If you are interested, it comes in other colors but l'm NOT happy with the fact that it won't turn on.
