i picked up a chicken, and all the sudden like a whole freakin flock came up and attacked me so i ran with a chicken in my hands :3

They do it to me, too. Earlier today, I went to feed my chickens, and brought my chicken, Sonata inside, because he was not allowed to get wet and it was raining. I turned around, the whole flock was inside, attacking me.

Wow. I've been attacked by things, but never a bear. Probably because ever since I was attacked by a raccoon at a hotel, I prefer using electronics. Of course then everything I touched gets glitched. My family just calls me a living computer glitch...

I own six chickens, but honestly they are very gentle and shy, only willingly approaching humans if they think you have food.

Yes. We don't know if it's male or female. It's still a chick. We bought it as an ameraucana (I've had lots of trouble purchasing amearucanas, We bought 4 "Ameauracana Pullets", two from Ranch Hand,two from Rural King. 1 rural king was a rooster the other was a.nutty hybrid. Both ameauracanas from TS were barred rocks. I still love them. The roo is my best friend See More▼

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. It's never pleasant when pets die. But it happens... and at least the hawk had a meal.

I used to have six polish chicks, Marshmallow,Jewel, Cosmo,Coco, Miss Priss, and Spike. 5 of them died,two of a parasite, one of a hawk, and the last one was a runt. Coco is still alive.

That's unfortunate about the Ameraucana mix ups, but it's good that you love your chickens anyway. Copernicus is an Ameraucana, but the Hatchery we purchased her from also sold us two other chickens, and one died of Merrick's disease. Unfortunate, really, because they even said they vaccinated against it.

Is your Midnight also a Barred Rock? We have a black one named Oreo, too. There are also Pierre and Shiva the red heads, Copernicus the blonde, and Creme Puff the towhead. Do you have any other chickens?

Yes- but food is the main reason mine get rallied up. My sister's chicken, Midnight, was pampered as a chick so now she is very much an attention hog.
It's alright though, they're not trying to hurt anyone for the most part.
