"Sabina made a cake

I said coming from the doorway. She motioned for me to come and sit with her. I walked over and sat in her lap and leaned against her chest while she stroked my hair.
"I was worried to day how about you?" she asked me.
"Terrified, but nothing bad is gonna happen to us now. Right?" I asked looking up her and I could plainly see the worry but she hid it in a smile.
" Right. Now lets going decorate that cake," she said always pushing me off her. I laughed and smiled up at her and raced down the stairs. When got down Kadin picked me up and swung me around while I laughed. Everyone was laughing and smiling at each other. He put me down and I ran over to Jacalyn to help her decorate the cake. When we finished Sabina put all the food on the table and called for us to eat. We laughed and told jokes Kadin made funny faces at me and everything seemed perfect.
"Lacee can you clear the table?" Sabina asked me and I nodded grabbing plates, silverware, and cups. I could here them talking but I didn't really listen and when I finished I brought out the cake to the living room. Jacalyn cut it and put it on the plates while Radcliff sat and sipped his coffee. Then there was a knock at the door and Bailee jumped up to get it. She walked out of the room and answered it. We heard her from the living room, "Can we help you?"
"We are with the council and we have some bad news," said a low serious voice. Radcliff stood up and Jacalyn motioned me to come sit with her. I sat down and she pulled me close as if protecting me from view. Kadin stood in front of them as did Sabina. I waited burying my face in Jacalyn's hair.
