Do all good video games need plots?

I've been in an argument about this question. Does a game need a plot to be good?

Depends on the game honestly, like totally accurate battle simulator has no plot but it would be fun to play just because of the battles you could create

Ah. I'm talking about popular games, mostly for console. (Such as Mario, Minecraft, Zelda, etc)

Like overwatch there's no plot in game but there's lore and plot outside of the game

Well, that honestly depends on a person's definition of "good." If, to you, a video game being "good" means it's enjoyable, then no. Flappy Bird, for example. It has no plot whatsoever, but a lot of people think it's "good" because they have fun playing it.

Ah. This makes sense.

Mm-hm. So, next time you get in an argument over this, ask them what their definition of a good video game is! ^^

No, just find what you like and of it like unlike others where they only focus on the bad stuff?

Depends.
Usually, because of demand, usually yeah. However, not all- Mario really never had a plot becides save the princess from a mutant turtle until recently.
Its all up to opinions.
