Why Is 'Valentines Day' So Important?

I've always wondered why Valentine's is so special... I just don't get it. Why have a day with flowers and roses and celebrating love, when you should be doing that every day?

shouldn't you be thankful everyday? but we have Thanksgiving, don't we? shouldn't you always honor veterans? but we have veterans day. shouldn't you always treat your guardians with respect? but we have mother's and father's day. Love is so powerful, and if you see Valentines day as just a day for giving cards and chocolates, you're completely missing the meaning of it. Love isn't just for a Bf or Gf. it's friends, family, hobbies, EVERYTHING you love. I think Love is worth celebrating. See More▼

I think Valentine Day is stupid, because you should be showing people love anyway, and not just with cards and gifts.

Crud. There was a quote from a manga I read a long time ago for why it was important to girls. Something about them trying their best to impress guys everyday and Valentines is the guys day to do it.
But it's on my phone which is unfortunately dead and I need to find its charger... :/

Actually there's no reason why Valentines Day was invented
MockingjayDistrict
Actually it was invented because a priest named Valentine secretly allowed soldiers to marry, because soldiers weren't allowed to marry because the king didn't want them to be distracted from fighting. Valentine's Day is to celebrate what he did for the soldiers by allowing them to marry women they loved. So yes, it was invented for a reason.
