American money question.paper tender.

Now i have a couple of questions actually

I recently went tothe store and bought something with a fairly large bill. The person at the counter gave me my change.. one of the twenties was missing a peice the size about the size of half a nickle..rightt at the top..is this currency still good.

My second questons is one of the bills was a 2001. and inoticed the serial code ink was visible from the back...even when it wasnt against light...is it just that it is a old bill, i checked my other older bills one was a 1996 and the other a 2001..im guessing its noormal..thanks
