Do I have a borderline personality disorder?

Do I have a borderline personality disorder?

I was reading an article on the illness and I decided to look it up because someone who had it was getting involved in the same things I was. This is a fair trigger warning, but yes, I have engaged in dangerous things to harm myself, I used to have an eating disorder, and I have a fear of being alone. A really, really bad fear. I constantly get jealous when my lover talks to someone suspicious. No, I am not abusive. I try my hardest not to be. Here's something to consider, I have been depressed nonstop since someone has lied to me. They said they liked me and liked talking to me, but I found out they lied. I also found out that they don't want a certain someone talking to me because they think I'm abusive. Only because they assumed it was my when this particular person was crying. And it really wasn't my fault. I promise! It was his ex.. but do you guys think I have BPD?

You should go to a doctor if you're concerned, and bpd is mainly very severe and quick mood swings. I personally have bpd symptoms, and if you're concerned about your mental health, go get checked.

I'm going to get a therapist pretty soon, I talked to my mom about it.

honestly, i dont think you should keep looking at symptoms online. you'll just scare yourself. it's unlikely you have it, though there is a possibility. talk to your doctor if you have concerns.

Other info: My family has a history of mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, and Bipolar disorder. I'm still searching on the subject, and these are becoming super clear to me. No, I'm not self diagnosing myself. That's why I'm asking on here. I can't talk to my mom about it or she'll send me off. I can't.

I understand. My uncle had serious Schizophrenia issues, but my dad helped him - my mom really took note of that back then because they weren't even in a relationship back then. In my family there's a very worrying tendency to that kind of stuff, and at one point I was afraid that I might be getting really affected. People look down at self diagnosis and they're See More▼
