is my ear infected?

first things first, if you think what im about to say is tmi, get out. im actually seeking help so I don't overreact to a medical professional, if you wanna say "this is nasty" you're getting your comment deleted. :/

so around late june I got my ears pierced for my birthday. the lady gave me gold ones so they were less likely to get infected, and said I need to keep them in for 4 weeks.
I never actually took the earrings out and replaced them with others when the deadline passed for whatever reason, so I still have my gold ones in months later. as of the past few weeks, I've been getting yellow crusts in my right ear, between the actual earring and the thing holding it in. nothings been wrong with my left ear, and during those 4 weeks, I did clean them.
but this morning I woke up and my right ear was swollen. I tried cleaning it but it didn't help, and when I tried to twist them it was hard and it hurt. so I noticed in 4th period that the little lump kind of moved from the bottom of my lobe to the top where the actual earring stops, then back again. now it's gotten so.big I can feel it all at the bottom and at the top.
is it infected? please help.

Since it's gold, you're probably not having an allergic reaction. So it might be infected. I would personally recommend seeing a medical professional.

Even if it's not an infection you're still having symptoms so seeing a doctor would be a good idea.

I would go to a professional. It's not normal, and only they can say if you are fine.

Most "professional" people who do ear piercing or any Piercinghere recommend 5 weeks over 4. The 5th week is used for healing. It's probably not so much a problem or a issue you've had with the ear ring it's more some people's ears, don't like them I guess. I sister had issues with hers, the hole in her ear used to puss up. She no longer wears ear rings and problem is gone. Also if you only find these problems when you wake up, try removing the ear ring when you go to sleep as See More▼
