Breakfast
When I walked downstairs Kadin my second older brother,Sabina my eldest sister,
Mabelle the second eldest, and Jacalyn four years older than me all turned to look at me. Radcliff didn't look up from his newspaper like always. Jacalyn and Mabelle smiled at me lovingly while Kadin hugged me close like he always does when he is proud of me.
"Radcliff!" Sabina snapped at him nudging him with her hip while holding a plate in her hand. I sniffed the air and smelled eggs, bacon, and hash-browns. Radcliff looked up and his face softened the way a father's does when his daughter walks down the aisle and he realizes she has grown up in the blink of an eye. In our family after our parents left everyone filled a role in the family unit. Sabina became the motherly figure, Radcliff became the fatherly figure, Baliee become the older sister who wants you to be perfect, Mabelle became the teacher, and Jacalyn became the best friend.
"You look so grown up."he said to me and hugged me close to his heart. "Never grow up."he said into my ear and I hugged him harder trying to keep myself from crying. When I turned twelve my gifts were unlocked and I had powerful dangerous gifts. The council grew afraid of me and ordered my father to kill me and he couldn't do it. That is what the trial is for and if they find him guilty they will punish the whole family along with him. The jury consists of people who will vote for my families life and if they vote not guilty my father is imprisoned and life goes on. Not a fair system though because it is rigged so you will always be punished even if your found not guilty. Now back to the story.
"Be careful."she whispered and got into the car and we drove off.
