How to Create a Good Warriors OC

How to Create a Good Warriors OC

I've been thinking of doing this for a while now. There are some really strange cats and names out there, and if you want to check them out, Google up Bad Warriors Names or The Worst Warriors. I will show ya how to make a solid, believable character

Chapter 1.

The Basic Stuff.

➟ Before we start naming our cat and giving them a personality and skills, let's decide their gender, shall we? I know it doesn't seem to matter, but tortoiseshells and calico cats are almost always female. If a tom were a tortoiseshell, he'd be a chimera or whatever, he'd be sickly and would need human care, and wouldn't be suited for Clan life. If you have a male character that's a calico or tortoiseshell, no, just no, please. If they have a mate or kits, no again, there are only three fertile tortoiseshell toms in the world.

➟ If you want your character to be a tortoiseshell, please make them a she-cat. Female cats can also be called mollies, and I prefer to call them that. Molly, keep that in mind. They say mollies are less temperamental than toms, for that matter. We can, however ignore it for now, you always can get an oddball here and there.

➟ Now that we know all this, let's decide the gender of our cat. I personally go with a molly.

➟ We can now go onto the looks. Before we do, I'll need to point out a few things you shouldn't do if you want to make your cat realistic. Let us begin!

➟ Eyes.
That is super important, really. A white warrior with blue eyes tends to be deaf, not always, but very often. You want to avoid that, unless your cat is odd-eyed. Usually the eyes are blue and yellow, so no experimenting here! The ear on the side of the blue eyes is likely deaf, too. Now let's face a common mistake, icy blue eyes. I've had many character with 'ice blue' eyes, but they're impossible. Pale blue eyes are acceptable, but never on a black cat. Black cats DO NOT naturally have blue eyes. Purple eyes seem to pop up here and there as well, you probably know by now that's not possible. Avoid red, neon and generally weird eye colors.

➟ Purebreds.
Pointed cats, Siamese, Persians and Angoras are exclusively bred cats. Do not make your warriors pointed or purebred, they are feral cats, related closely to the wildcat. Your purebred cat would have to be a kittypet or have kittypet ancestry, but we've had enough of them in the Clans. I only suggest one or two non-Clan cats that live in a Clan when you're writing a fan-fiction, it gets boring when everyone is a kittypet.

➟ Now that we have all our no-no's, let's get down to it! Pick a gender keeping the above info in mind, and choose a pelt color for them. Remember all the eye info when having a white or black cat in mind. I may as well go with tortoiseshell when I'm shaping a female. It's always handy to know the majority or your tortie's colors, so I go with mainly golden, patched with brown and little other colors.

You can have some traits another person used in their personality, but as long as you add some twists of your own, it's fine! [Sorry if I answered wrong, I really don't understand the middle part of this post].

I have three main OC's. See what you think:

Acornwish - Black and brown tabby she-cat with one black ear and black front paws.
- Medicine Cat
- Good at climbing and healing

Shadowmane - Black and brown tabby tom with thick, black fur around his shoulders. See More▼

If you go for lyrical names, that's fine by me. If I were to rate them I would probably begin a rant on how they aren't Traditional and how you can make them Traditional, and because you think a name doesn't have to describe the talents of a cat I'm not going to give you suffix suggestions. If you want some color suggestions tough, Acorn- is more of a light brown/golden See More▼

I have a Warriors OC named Spottedfeather, and another one named Robinfoot :)

I'm a little against -feather, it does no job describing the cat's skill but I must admit it sound pretty! Robinfoot is great, it your cat is ginger, brown or tortoiseshell, and -foot would most likely mean it's a fast cat. Well done on the names!

You could use Spottedtail, it is a good name for an agile or good-climbing cat that is...well...spotted! You also keep your fave charrie parts, you know, FeatherTAIL.
