Struggles (Nikki x Reader)

A Gentle Meeting

You walked down the gravelly pathway, rocks getting stuck in your feet. This happened every day, but you didn't mind. It started to feel pleasing many months ago. Admiring the beach, you took a sigh of relief. The pathways near the ocean were always the most calming at night, because no one would be there to block the view. There had never been because of the harsh tide. Except this particular day.
You saw a eevee, sitting where the water would brush up against the sand. Her fur blew in the evening wind, but she didn't look happy about it. You decided to help a pal in need and delayed your walk to go help her. The only problem was the sand was still burning hot for the earlier hours. Your feet jumped in the air like Pogo-sticks, trying to ignore the burning hot sand beneath you.
You got to the eevee and sat next to her. Her blizzard blue eyes looked faded with glossy tears, slowly dripping down her face. Her mane was scruffed up in a tangled mess. Her paws had scrapes and cuts, and you could still smell the scent of blood. She breathed slowly and heavily before turning her head to look at you. Her stare seemed so cold and dead, but yet it sparkled with beauty.
"Don't feel bad," she said as a tear dripped down her cheek. "This is just me, Nikki. Sad and alone. No reason to stay and chat." Your heart sank down to your stomach with guilt. It was like you did something wrong to the poor girl. "I'm supposed to feel bad, that's what I do," you replied, thinking you should of kept your mouth shut. Electric shocks came from your cheeks, making Nikki flinch.
What seemed like a miracle happened; she smiled. "That's a real shock you actually care," she laughed. Nikki wiped a tear from her eye. "I guess it was a sign that we were supposed to be sitting here." You started to blush, hearing this comment from what would seem like the opposite of who would say that. "Would you like to go on a walk with me?" you asked her, wondering why you just invited a stranger on a walk with you. "Sure!" she agreed before standing up.
You walked on the same gravelly pathway, now laughing and talking with a new friend. Eventually, the path would wind up to your home so that's where you would depart Nikki. As you walked up to the campsite, you felt a strong connection. You didn't want to leave her all by herself because of the way you saw her. "Uh, you wanna stay here for a while?" you asked, trying to keep it cool. "YES!" Nikki yelled, hugging you like she had never seen a house.
You started to push together some grass and leaves to make a nest. Nikki was sitting down on your bed, smiling and looking around. She had looked so much different that when you had found her. Glancing at her, you saw she had a leaf on her face. "Here, let me get that," you said walking over to her. You stuck out your tongue and licked Nikki's face.
Rather than being insulted or grossed out, she started to giggle. "Cut it out! That tickles!" Nikki laughed as you continued to lick her face. You wiped your mouth, saliva moisturizing your mouth. Somehow, licking someone's face made you feel a stronger connection with her. She still snickered lightly, even after you stopped licking her face. You blushed a little bit and you were pretty sure she did too. You were in love.
