The Fussy Boy

It was the time of war,
Where many- the escapees were poor.

Among them was a young boy,
However his diet was his lack of joy.

Worryingly- his mother said,
"You must eat, or you will soon dread."

The boy- ignored his mother's word and replied,
"I am healthy and strong," was what he stated in pride.

Soon food was little,
The boy's belly was becoming a whittle.

When the guns stopped,
And peace was topped.

The boy thought in regret- 'I'd be standing high,'
if it weren't for my deny.'
