It all started in the 3rd grade
We sat beside each other
Front row
You were new
From Ohio
And I just wanted a friend
Which is exactly what we became
We bonded over the years
Our friendship traveled from your temporary apartment
To your huge new home
Just a three minute drive away
We went from talking about the Jonas Brothers
And Disney Channel
To Coldplay
And the news
We went from elementary school
Where we talked about becoming authors and singers
To middle school
Where we learned nothing comes easy
But I was there to help you through the hard times
Through your pants divorce scare
Through your depression
Through the jerk that you fell for
Through the bullies
I was there
Holding your hand
Holding you so you didn't feel the pain
I was there
But thats just what you mean to me
I didn't mind watching you run off with your new friend
She's my friend too
I didn't mind watching you attract all the guys
While I stayed anonymous
I didn't mind you talking about the guy you liked
Even though he was no where near good enough for you
I didn't mind that at all
Because who else would be waiting for you
When you realize she is not a true friend
When you see that the boys don't appreciate you
When the guy you like breaks your heart?
Who else would wait for you to come back?
It definitely won't be Her
I guess it'll just be me
But I don't mind
