Epilogue: Hope
In the end, we did adopt the puppy. We named her Hope, in hope that it she (the dog turned out to be a she) would help us.And we weren’t disappointed. Vet Micheal was right. Romping around in the woods and cuddling as a family helped me and Dad get over the sorrows of the past. Hope didn’t replace Mom; only time could heal that wound, but instead filled our hearts a little more and helped us get past dark times. So I guess that day wasn’t just the Day of the Dead, but also, the Day of the Dog.
