I don't think that swear words are necessary, but i think we should have words that aren't offensive, but we can say when we're mad.

My mom always says that people only swear because they're not clever enough to think of a better word. All the kids I know my age think swearing is 'cool' if they're cool then I don't wanna be it

Not really. If you drop something on the floor, you can just say shoot instead of s***. Kids at my school swear every-other word and not only is it stupid but it's also annoying. Honestly swearing makes you seem as though you're trying too hard. Also swearing can hurt others or make them uncomfortable.
Straightajonah
ikr shoot definitely works in any scenario were you can say the other word!
reply

While not technically 'necessary', there will always be words that will be labelled as ruder than others and that some people will take strong offence to. Personally I think that overusing them takes the intensity out of them so while I will swear, I will only do it when my emotion is strong and passionate to match up to the words that I use.
Swearing in every second sentence though is not necassary and in my opinion stupid. Find better words.

I think that smaller cuss words (such as damn) are necessary because people need some sort of verbal way to convey emotion. However, major cuss words are not necessary.

To be honest I think it's kind of weird that there are words that we're not supposed to say. If they're so bad why would you create them? I'm not lying, I swear a fair amount (especially online •__• ) but that's not to be offensive or anything

No way. I really hate swear words. I've never said one and hope I won't. In fact I'm so anti-swear words that my fingers twitch subcontiously when ever someone swears. Al though, I think that if swear words weren't here they'd invent some other crude, offensive, racist, sexist words.

Of course they're not necessary. That doesn't mean they shouldn't exist, though. I mean, internet isn't necessary. Entertainment isn't necessary. Fun in general isn't even necessary.

F*ck yea. Ok, ok I'm kidding. I have no problem with swear words. I just consider them REALLY powerful words with a lot of meaning behind them. I don't think it's about being clever or smart or classy, I think it's about showing extreme emotion and just those emotions scare people and that's why they're "bad."

Better than physical abuse, but it's not necessary most of the time.
hotanimallover101
then when do you think it is appropriate because if you shouldn't use it all the time then why should you use it once? If it's to get the point across don't you think their is a more productive more mature way to handle things? rather than cursing to make people or animals scared, and not do something. If so then maybe you should take a parenting class and learn See More▼

Defiantly not. The words just make people feel bad and should not be accepted. People thinks it makes them "cool" but really just illiterate. Swear words should not be tolerated guys. What's happening with society?

This is a hard question, as most people see different words differently. For example, a swear said in a language you don't know would mean nothing to you, because you wouldn't know what they said. It's like that, except speaking the same language. For example (again), someone might not see the alternative for check as a swear for whatever reason, and someone else could see it like a swear. It really depends on what each individual thinks.

Swear words can be vary offensive, plus they enter hatred in your heat. It's better to add peace to the mind. You do have you're agency to choose, but remember bad habits are hard to brake. It is totally up to you to choose just remember if you start it's hard to go back and turn around so choose appropriately and make the choice that best benefits you. Although I highly recommend not to, and I'll say it once more the choice is yours!
vive_la_revolution
But what makes bad words so bad? I think that it depends on who you're with; some people don't and and others do.

I don't want to be mean but think about it. The only reason people use those words is because they are angry. What purpose do they have? They don't make you feel good and they don't solve problems. All they do is make your language dirty and sometimes hurt others. they really aren't necessary even in bad situations.

No, there not necessarily. Using them, just makes things worse and make you into a person you are not. People just use them to either make a point/fight, also they say them to make it sound like their "cool". And also, they may use them in terms to get their anger out, but NO their not necessarily.

If you need a 'swear' word to prove a point, its obviously not a good point. If you can't use normal words to prove the point...
~I have other thoughts on this that I won't express.~
