Today, we had an assembly, and when we walked into the hall, I felt really happy because there was Here's to Never Growing Up by Avril Lavigne I the background, and there were pictures of Avril, 30StM and MIKA on the board, and the words 'The Meaning of Songs' on a PowerPoint. Which was good, because I know the meaning of This is War and Slipped Away.
However, I knew I was in trouble when the religion manager - whatever he's called - was taking assembly, and he favours the religious See More▼ kids - not atheists like me. He started saying about how fans of 30StM were a 'cult', and was talking about how they were 'devil-worshippers'. That really upset me, because I like 30StM, and the cult thing was an urban legend. I consider myself a '30 Seconds to Martian', because I like that name.
If that wasn't enough, he spoke about 'emo' singers like Avril Lavigne, and how they talk about cutting and 'promoting self-harm'. That just made me plain angry, because as far as I'm aware, Avril has never promoted self-harm, if fact, she was talking about how she was younger, self-harm was one of the biggest mistakes of her life.
Finally, he played a translation of Boum Boum Bpum by MIKA, and told us it was promoting non-straight people. That made me think of @MikasPrincess, who I consider one of the most inspirational people I've ever met. So, yeah. Today was fudge.
